Millions of student-athletes will dream of victory this fall on their school playing fields. The families and teachers want to see them succeed and, at the same time want them to be safe.  Here are six ways for parents and school staff to keep in mind as the new season gets underway: Starting off right: All athletes need a physical. They also should share any medical conditions with coaches. Parents should provide contact information and permission for emergency medical care.  Nutrition : A healthy diet should consist of complex carbohydrates, moderate amounts of protein, salt, sugars, and sodium. Fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol should be kept to a minimum.  Warm up, cool down:   Stretch and warm up before practices and games. After each practice and game cool down.
