Ways to Avoid Getting a Cold
Cooler weather, colorful leaves or white surfaces, and holiday spirit are signs of winter. The nights are long and the days are short. As many of us embrace the winter air, admire the beautiful scenery, and plan holiday events with our families, millions are catching a cold. This is the time of year when a stranger's sneeze on the bus can make a person miserable within the week. People take the flu shot to be protected; however, there are other ways:
- Wash and sanitize your hands: everything we touch has germs. Some people do not believe it to be true and go about their lives without concern. Later, they suffer the consequences. Our hands should be washed constantly before touching food or our faces. What happened during the pandemic was one of the biggest lessons for the entire world. A lesson no one should forget. Sadly, many people have forgotten and are back to not properly washing their hands.
- Clean the things used daily: things such as keyboards, phones, tablets, doorknobs, and keys. These things are touched daily by dirty hands. However, cleaning them does not cross people's minds. When was the last time you cleaned your computer mouse?
What To Do When Sick!
Don't get worse - Worrying weakens immunity. Keep your stress in check; try yoga or exercises to help with stress. Going outside to breathe fresh air may help, just don't get in contact with anyone. In case your body is not in the mood for exercising, just get plenty of sleep. Drink plenty of water and add honey to anything that you intake as honey helps with sickness.
Stay Home - Watery eyes, constant coughing, and sleepiness will impact productivity. Plus, there is a big risk of getting others sick. So, don't go to work. Even if you hate missing a day of work or think your coworkers and employer will think less of you. Just think how bad they will think of you if you get them sick. Additionally, the sickness will get worse if going to work. The body needs rest.
Stay in Bed - Get plenty of rest. No working around the house or doing yard work. It may seem a great idea to get caught up with work around the home, but that only slows down the healing process. Drink lots of water and avoid stress.
The best thing is to avoid getting sick. It is hard avoiding those that are sick, especially if they live with you. Just do your best. There are many ways to protect yourself. Take all precautions. After all, it is your health at risk.
